Rooted in Vancouver Island's
Forest Tradition
Hilltop Forest Products was built on the belief that quality forest products and honest work should be accessible to anyone building or landscaping on Vancouver Island — without the overhead of a big yard or the uncertainty of an unknown supplier.
Supplying Vancouver Island Properties with Premium Forest Products
Hilltop Forest Products operates on Vancouver Island, sourcing and supplying premium cedar rails, firewood, and landscaping services to homeowners, farmers, ranchers, and contractors throughout the Island — from Victoria to Campbell River and everywhere in between.
We got started because we kept seeing the same problem: buyers couldn't trust what they were ordering. Rails would arrive undersized, off-grade, or poorly dried. We built our grading system — Standard, Select, Premium, and Master Grade — to solve that problem directly. When you order Premium, you get Premium.
Our commitment to salvaged and responsibly sourced cedar isn't just marketing. BC's forests are a resource worth protecting, and we operate accordingly — maximizing yield from every tree and sourcing from operations that share our values.

The Person Behind Every Order
Patrick has spent more than six years working hands-on in BC's cedar and landscaping industry — enough time to know exactly what separates a good rail from a great one, and what it takes to build a fence that's still standing straight twenty years from now.
He started Hilltop Forest Products because he wanted to do things right. That means sourcing responsibly, grading honestly, and being the person who answers the phone when you have a question. There are no account managers here, no call centres. You deal with Patrick directly — before, during, and after your order.
That level of accountability isn't something you can fake with scale. It's built into how Hilltop operates. And it's why customers keep coming back project after project.

How We Work
Sustainably Sourced
We work with salvaged cedar and responsibly managed BC forest land. No old-growth, no waste. The timber that doesn't become rails often becomes firewood — nothing goes to the landfill.
Zero Compromise on Quality
Every rail is graded by hand. We don't ship material we wouldn't build with ourselves. If a rail doesn't meet grade, it doesn't go out. Simple.
Transparent Pricing
Our grade system is straightforward and fully published. You know what each grade costs and what to expect from it before you order. No upselling, no hidden fees.
Built for Vancouver Island's Climate
Western red cedar is one of the most naturally durable woods in the world — naturally rot-resistant, dimensionally stable, and ideal for Vancouver Island's wet seasons and mild winters.
Our Environmental Commitment
Western red cedar is BC's most iconic material — and one of its most precious resources. We take our role in the supply chain seriously, working only with salvaged logs, timber from windfall events, and responsibly managed sources.
Waste is minimized at every step. Offcuts feed the firewood supply. Unusable material is chipped or returned to the land. We're not perfect, but we're intentional — and we keep getting better.
